What if your city offered to give you a new motorcycle in exchange for your old clunker. Like cash for clunkers, but infinitely more cool. Would you take the bait? You’d free up road space which is good, and you’d have a motorcycle which is also good.

Does everyone else get a motorcycle?
In that case, I would totally say yes and then wait about two weeks for them to finish clearing the dead bodies off my commute before 12 ‘o’ clocking it the entire way to work.

No. I don’t care if it’s just a massive paperweight, I’m keeping the Tercel.

nope, blown disc, can’t ride anymore...
![]() 03/07/2017 at 23:48 |

Hell naw. I’d rather the vehicle get crunched first in a crash before I do. Also kinda hard to haul shit back on a two wheeler than a four.

You’ll have to pry the keys to my dry, heated, air conditioned, engine not wedged between my legs, doesn’t make my heavy 6'4" self look stupid car from my cold, dead hands.

i would find some other way to motorcycle..........
but realistically i wouldnt have the heart to part with any of the “clunkers” that i own..........

No, it’s raining here almost more often than not

No.
![]() 03/07/2017 at 23:54 |

If I had a clunker, yes. Ban cars from cities in general.

Does buying the cheapest old beater on Craigslist qualify you for this deal..? Because I want a newish bike. But losing my Miata would be like cutting off a bodypart
![]() 03/07/2017 at 23:56 |

No.

Nothing on this earth would get me to ride a motorcycle.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:00 |

No, I need to do things.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:02 |

No, I’m clumsy and would fall a lot.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:07 |

Only if the motorcycle was considerably more valuable than my “clunker”, and I could sell it to afford myself a nicer car.

Air conditioning? Look at Mr. Moneybags over here!

I don’t know where Logan is but in the south, A/C is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. Like either have a/c or actually die.

I think you are the only one here that has a valid reason for it.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:09 |

If I lived a couple dozen degrees of latitude further south, and everyone else I share the road with did the same, I’d consider it.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:09 |

I think there are more clever ways to accomplish the goal of saving road space. IMO short overall length electric cars like the BMW i3 are probably a better solution for most people than a motorcycle. I do think we need to incentivize smaller vehicles in cities.

You spelled “flat earth” wrong.

I would keep my car.

if everyone else on my commute drove these, i would say maybe. if brodozers still around no.

Would I get a side car? I’d need a side car.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:21 |

What if you don’t even have a car?
![]() 03/08/2017 at 00:24 |

I’ve done the whole no AC thing with the Safari. Arriving at your destination nice and sweaty thanks to hot and humid St. Louis summers sucks. AC is mandatory and the first thing I make sure functions in a car now.

The Celica was awful to drive in the summer, even on a 74 degree day. The backseat windows don’t pop open so there’s no airflow, and the car was a greenhouse to begin with. Suffice to say, the Tercel I bought actually has AC. Should be a better summer.

that’s not a car

problem solved
![]() 03/08/2017 at 01:11 |

No because. A) I can’t ride a motorcycle and B) don’t want to die
![]() 03/08/2017 at 01:13 |

Thats a big nopity nope from me.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 01:17 |

Given choice of motorcycle?
Hell yes.
![]() 03/08/2017 at 01:22 |

Possibly? I already bike most places. Though the car fills the needs that the bike cannot. And I wouldn’t even be able to use it to commute by scenic riverside path.

I know I ticked yes on the organ donor box on my DL, but that doesn’t mean I’m in a hurry to do so. Hard pass.

If I was offered a Ural 2WD I’d jump ship. As long as they covered at least 50% of all repairs (or a 100% tax deduction for all repairs) and let me license my trikes for road use.
The only thing better than a Black Labrador in an old Ford is one in a sidecar!
![]() 03/08/2017 at 04:26 |

yeah i’d give it a bash, but only if the bike they give out a Honda NBC110 supercub.

Negative Ghostrider, pattern is full.
As much as I enjoy tooling around on my scooter in the neighborhood, I’m not interested in commuting on one. I’ve got mouths to feed. And also winter.

Oh yeah, I need to get my AC fixed before the Midwest late spring/summer hits. Damn it.

Snow from October till April.
No.

Yes!! Good bye 928, hello Speed Triple
